Midcoast
Educational Learning Opportunities (MELO) started in the beginning of
2005. Five Town CSD Adult Ed Director Tim Dresser, Mid-Coast School of Technology (MCST) Adult Ed Director Marianne Doyle,
and Midcoast Internet Solutions (MIS) Marketing Director Bill Batty, Jr.
saw a need. There needed to be a way to get information about the treasure
trove of technology courses offered in the mid-coast area out to the adult,
computer using public. A brainstorming session in November 2004 led to
the MELO concept. Midcoast Internet would let their customer base know
about the many computer courses offered, and the Adult Ed departments
would offer a pricing incentive to those MIS customers. It was a winning
proposition. MIS gets a customer base that was more computer savvy. Five
Town Adult Ed and MCST get more students in their technology classes.
Mid-coast residents get reduced rate technology learning.
