News & Notices
June 2001
- June 27, 2001 5:30pm. The Sell & Swap BBS and the Biznet
Bulletin Board have been upgraded to a newer version of the BBS software.
This will show the IP address of the poster. This will help us and
customers identify spammers or people with illegitimate posts easily. This
information (the IP address) is not and hasn't been secret in the past,
just more difficult to find (not on the post).
- June 26, 2001 Some people using the 589-3003 number in Liberty
had trouble logging in for a while this morning. We reset the equipment
there and things have been fine since.
- June 21, 2001 Sprint is having trouble in the Northeast. (A
major failure in NY where lots of ISPs connect to) From about 8:00pm to
9:30, a minority of dialup customers were not able to get outside of
midcoast.com. The Sprint problem has not been corrected, but I have
rerouted our Sprint traffic over one of our ATT links with our new BGP
setup. Next time Sprint fails, the transfer will be automatic.
- June 20, 2001 The T1 that services Wiscasset, Boothbay, Edgecomb, Bath and Brunswick
Dialup Numbers needed to be reset this morning. This caused people in those areas not to be able to connect to our servers from around 4:00am to 8:00am.
- June 17, 2001 We have activated a function on our mail server
which will delete any mail from the server which is 90 days or older.
Please download your mail regularly and do not use "leave mail on
server" if it is not necessary.
- June 17, 2001 10:00am The Union POP had a power outage last night that
outlasted our battery backup. Power has been restored and everthing is up again.
- June 15, 2001 A new newsletter has been published. Here is a link to it.
- June 14, 2001 Rockland's Planning Board and ZBA has approved a
datacenter plan for Midcoast Internet Solutions. This will permit
increased growth and reliability of MIS. A link to our datacenter project
is here.
The following links represent all the system notices from MIS since we started saving them in 1996. Happy Reading!
