• Oct 30, 2003 4:00pm. Downtown Rockport wireless will be out for about 20 minutes while an antenna is replaced at our location there.
• Oct 29, 2003 SpamAssassin on the @midcoast.com server took a break for a short while and a bunch of spam was let through. Shortly after, the server automatically fixed it and brought it back on. We expect to be upgrading this server sometime next week.
• Oct 29, 2003 A newsletter was emailed to all @midcoast.com and @lincoln.midcoast.com addresses. If needed, you can see it online here. One minor correction to the newsletter. @midcoast.com email addresses do have the attachment killer automatically on.
• Oct 28, 2003 12:10am. Our main router will be rebooted for a software change. This will take about 4 minutes and will affect surfing during the reboot.
• Oct 27, 2003 A problem with one of the modem servers caused 1-500-699-7200 to ring busy when all the lines were not full. The problem modem server has been identified and taken out of the system while we work on it.
• Oct 24, 2003 The upgrade for kona.midcoast.com/free.midcoast.com went well. A filter has been installed on the server that blocks both incoming and outgoing viruses and executables sent by email. If someone needs to send a legitimate executable program by email, they should compress it first. This filter should not be used as a substitute for virus protection on your computer, but it should reduce the clutter of worms and viruses that arrive by email.
• Oct 24, 2003 9:00am. kona.midcoast.com/free.midcoast.com will be upgraded to new hardware and software. This will will not cause any interuptions.
• Oct 21, 2003 12:30pm. Wiscasset wireless is not working at this time. We will begin to investigate and repair things when weather improves.
• Oct 16, 2003 12:10am. Lincoln.midcoast.com will be shut down for a short time in order to be replaced. We expect this will take about twenty minutes.
• Oct 15, 2003 10:00am. Washington and Liberty numbers are out of service due to a power failure in Washington that has outlasted our UPSs there. Some DSL customers are without service as well due to power outages where the DSL serving equipment is located. Damariscotta and Wiscasset are out as the generator for that location is being serviced from 11:00am to 12:20pm.
• Oct 14, 2003 From 12:30pm to 1:00pm, our Newcastle office phone number answered, "No longer in service". This was a phone company programming error and is fixed now.
• Oct 11, 2003 The antispam software was innefective for a few hours today, permitting spam to get through to people who block or filter it. No mail was lost.
