The image above is the Regimental crest taken from the original flag captured by the British in 1777. On the original, the emblem is painted on a blue silk flag with a gold and red emblem in the canton that vaguely resembles the Union Jack.
The 2nd NH is also identified with another flag also captured in 1777 that is buff with the following emblem painted on it:
This design is painted in gold and appears to have originated with Benjamin Franklin. This flag also has a vaguely Union Jack type emblem in the canton made up of red and blue triangles. It is probable that this flag didn't really belong to the 2nd but was the flag of a unit that was captured along with the 2nd's.
